SOME STATISTICS IN SINGLE
PARENT CHILDREN
I a way to learn how big
the problems of singles parent families are;
Single mothers and
fathers have much higher likelihood to live in poverty, as they face incredible
work/life balance issues. Single Parent Families have unique needs and issues
constantly affecting their inability to overcome ruin. The emotional and
financial toll on most of these families is actually helping to create an even
younger population of single parents who are just children themselves.
However, those technically in the “middle class” are
often not eligible for assistance as they don’t qualify as poor. Right now, no
one serves those in this “gap”. Single parent families have to deal with
financial constraints, hectic daily schedules, legal issues, depression,
disability, fear of failure and loneliness.
For my research, I come to realized that, children
from single parent families are more prone
to suicide, teen pregnancy, behavioral disorders, criminal activity and school
avoidance. They also suffer from parental
tension, abandonment, effects of moving, fear of change and losing attachment
to their parents.
To help single parent families navigate through
life, SPCF, a non-profit organization, aims to provide access to information
and resources, and create online and offline programs. Single Parent Children
Foundation hosts a resource directory, a social platform, and serves as an
advocate in private, public and the non-profit sector for single parents. The
information, resources, and social platform equips and empowers single parent
families and helps them do more than they could alone. The three keywords for
SPCF are Help, Heal, and Hope.
SPCF is committed to
breaking this cycle and to help build resource connections for families that
help them to become more productive, more resourceful and more informed on how
to be the best parent they can be for their children. We have vulnerable single
parent children in many areas in Tanzania and some parts of East Africa.
We focus to continue
making a profound difference in the lives of single parent children and their
families in the years to come.
